During that occasion the Montioni wines had obtained excellent scores. However, this year, for Eric Guido’s tasting of native Umbrian wines, we have outdone ourselves…are you curious to find out the scores obtained by Sagrantino Ma.Gia 2018, Sagrantino di Montefalco 2018 and Montefalco Rosso 2019? Here are Vinous’ excellent ratings for these Montioni wines during this year’s visit!SAGRANTINO DI MONTEFALCO MA.GIA 2018: 94 points by Eric Guido – Vinous
“Dusty yet floral, and fully of characer, the 2018 Montefalco Sagrantino Ma.Gia slowly comes to life. Spiced orange rinds, dried cherries and mint can all be found in the glass. It impressess further with the silkiest of textures coasting along a medium-bodied frame and depths of fleshy red berry fruits that resolve to reveal a coating of minerality. It finished long with subtle tannins and a resonance of licorice, yet not the srtuctural oomph readers would expect from Sagrantino. this is pure elegance and a great achievemetyn for the vintage
SAGRANTINO DI MONTEFALCO MONTIONI 2018: 93 points by Eric Guido – Vinous
“The 2018 Montefalco Sagrantino is moody and dark at first yet coaxing reveals a seductive mix of cherry and plum sauce, autumnal spice and tobacco. It’s soothlingly pliant and elegenat in feel, with opulent red and blue fruits that slowly stain the palate with fine tannins. While lightly structured the tannins are sweet and round allowing sweet herbal tones and pretty violet florals to linger on and on.”

MONTEFALCO ROSSO MONTIONI 2019: 90 points by Eric Guido – Vinous
Versione originale:
“Depths of black cherry are lifted by dusty rose and mentholated herbs as the 2019 Montefalco Rosso unfolds in the glass. It coasts along the palate, riding a brilliant core of bright acidity while delivering a balanced mix of ripe red fruits. The 2019s momentum never stops as it finishes only lightly tannic but long, revealing a pretty inner sweetness. “

Thanks to Eric for coming back to taste our typical Montefalco wines and for appreciating them as only a true expert can.
