Dear customers,
With this short letter we, the Azienda Agricola Montioni, always attentive to you and your needs, would like to update you on the situation of the production and the quantity of the olive oil from the new harvest as we are about to begin.
2022 ended up to be the driest of the past 15 years, leaving us without water and with 40°C (104°F) for 4 months, causing very significant losses on the olive harvest, but with great passion and tenacity, we stayed strong and slowly overcame the storm with the hope for a better 2023.
The new year began positively in the agriculture with more normal weather conditions and the plants seemed to gain benefit from it, so that after the pruning in March and April, and just before the flowering in June, they appeared healthy and lush, ready for a promising year.
Unfortunately, the sudden change in weather conditions in June, when the olive trees are in full bloom and, therefore, in the time of their maximum splendor, caused a drastic drop in temperatures and 30 days of rain, which damaged olive trees’ flowers due to the higher level of humidity and too less sunlight. Consequently, very few olives were born.
This is the story of what happened in agriculture in our beautiful areas and we wanted to tell you, in all fairness, before the start of the new olive oil selling, as unfortunately we are forced to slightly increase its price.
We wanted to inform you well in advance because we have always been true and sincere with you and, especially, we have always put you at the center of our worldbecause it is thanks to you if our farm is what it is today!
With respect
Azienda Agricola Montioni
