“The vegetable garden is an ancient and fascinating world, customs and manners are those of a distant profession. Perhaps the varieties of vegetables have changed slightly. They have kept pace with modern times where often, and sadly, the choices they are dictated not by taste but by the search for the largest, the healthiest, the most quickly and easily transportable.”

(Paolo Pejrone)

Love for nature in the vegetable garden of the Montioni farm

More and more connected to the world of organic agriculture and to a true return to origins in cultivation, here at the Montioni farm we have worked hard and created our own organic garden.

Respect for nature and its times, the love for strictly seasonal fruit and vegetables and the passion for everything related to cultivation have pushed us to work the land and cultivate different varieties of vegetables.

The idea of an organic garden in Umbria, in the Montioni territories in fact, was born from the idea of a return to primary agricultural activity, respecting the times and the needs of nature.

Seasonality is thus respected, without rushing the times to obtain an unsuitable harvest for that time of year and for those climatic conditions.

The visit of the garden to our customers

Thanks to the new organic garden, visitors to the Montioni Winery and Oil Mill will be able to observe the cultivation of other crops, different from those from which we produce our oil and wine but complementary to them.

In fact, there is no good vegetable if not seasoned with a good cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil!

Walking among the many vegetables that peek out from the ground will be a pleasant moment of appreciation of what nature offers us and will allow you to immerse yourself even more in an atmosphere of serenity and peace, very different from the frenzy of the city.

What is grown in the Montioni organic garden?

Currently our garden has different types of vegetables: we can in fact find onion, garlic, salad, peas and red potatoes from Colfiorito.

The seedlings are just born, emerged from the ground thanks to the first spring rains! During the month of May they will grow and become luxuriant, ready to be admired in the month of June.

What are the next crops that will be planted?

The summer season is not so far away, so off to the most popular summer vegetables: tomatoes and courgettes will soon be planted and will be part of the Montioni organic garden.

We are waiting for you on at Montioni to visit the new organic garden!
